Through the Beautiful Stuff Project, Connection Lab created an 8-page mosaic Storywalk called Dandelion Days. Each page of the book is a 12”x16” mosaic created by community members during socially-distanced outdoor tiling sessions. Without words, the book tells the story of a dandelion seed growing, aging, going to seed and multiplying into a whole field of flowers. Made of frost-proof materials, the story will move between school playgrounds and city parks throughout the year to increase literacy skills to young children and provide a fun excuse to be outside. Dandelion Days was first installed as pone of many Storywalks hung up by the Beautiful Stuff Project, the Somerville Public Libraries and the Somerville Family learning Collaborative for Family Literacy month in November. Of the series, only Dandelion Days is the only one that is weather-proof and able to be displayed through the winter.
