The wonderful art teacher at the Argenziano School agreed to have her art club make floral mosaics to decorate pavers that will divide the beds in the school garden.  She used PTA funds to buy mesh and glue, we’ll use garden improvement funds to buy pavers and cement, and the Groundwork Somerville Green Team will cement the mosaics in place in the spring.

Inspired by Georgia O’Keefe students designed close-up images of flowers that are the same size as the pavers.

I went in to meet with them on Monday to show them how to use mosaic mesh, options for laying out tiles, and how to interpret their painted designs in glass.  The group is motivated, artistic and very excited about the beautiful glass tiles donated by the Beautiful Stuff project.

Together we started one mosaic and over the coming weeks the club will put together 19 more!
