Yesterday was the second of three mosaic workshops that the Somerville Arts Council funded me to run with the Somerville Council on Aging. At the first workshop each person learned the basics of mosaic technique and made a small trivet or wall-hanging of their own. 16 people participated!
Yesterday we used all of that experience to begin a collaborative welcome sign with a peacock for the Holland St Center. Some people helped to sort glass and tile, others arranged colors, and then we all glued the day’s work together. Next week we hope to finish the design and get it almost ready to hang!
